| someone already mentioned mitch hedberg, and i'll second that. the two others that i'd put on the same level with him are dave attell and patton oswalt. three entirely different styles, but all of them are piss-yourself-funny. |

I don't think anyone has mentioned Doug Stanhoupe. Do yourself a favor and check him out. He's kind of a less-political, more alcoholic Bill Hicks. There's a great vid where he actually did his stand up while dosed.
David Cross is also swell, number two behind Stanhoupe. |

Most of these suggestions are old skool, but if you're looking for someone who's doing something really new, look up David Cross.

Just about everyone mentioned is great but it really depends on your type of comedy. I also like earlier guys like Redd Foxx.
Has anyone mentioned Gallagher? Sledge-o-matic... Classic! Stupid by today's standards, though...
Oh, for some clean (somewhat), manly humor, try Tim Allen...

Pt 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi13qjJhO7A
Takes a few minutes for him to get rolling...

Dennis Miller
Frank Caliendo (famous for his John Madden impersonation, but he is a master at other voices...Chris Farley as Batman? Hilarious!)
I'll second Lewis Black.
I thought Louis CK was funny in his sitcom("Lucky Louis"...I still piss myself watching it), but I watched his standup and was not impressed.
Dan St.Paul, Sean Morey, Jim Gaffigan, Tim Cavanaugh, Mitch Hedberg, Paul Gilmartin, Rodney Carrington, and a whole bunch of others.... just download some of "Bob and Tom Radio Show".... |

YES!
Now, who's gonna tell him to quit the drama acting crap and get back to comedy? |

2008 isn't here yet, dude. i suppose he has gotten a bit more political in the last few years, but his funniest stuff is telling stories that are just outright embaressing, like getting a bj from a trannie in Pheonix. |
