thermal gels? I just purchased some Arctic Silver 5. When it comes, I plan on removing the heatsink and redoing it with AS5. I wonder if that'll make a difference in temp.? Man....playing F.E.A.R., I had T.A.T. open while doing so and the processor got up to 55. I want it much cooler (mid. 40's).

A little vaseline or wd-40 gets my cpu temps down to 20-30 degrees. Hair gel works wonders too. Razz

BTW - no gel in the world is gonna knock you temps down 10 degrees. Try a new cooling solution (heat sink/fan/liquid).

well yeah...i know it won't drop 10 degrees. But, I am looking at a zalman cooler. Coupled with some AS5, I think it should be ok. Also, my two chassis fans are running at 1000RPMS. Tomorrow, I am going to buy better fans.

If you're not careful you'll end up using too much and not get optimum contact. You are obsessing- stop messing with that goop and buy the thermal tape.
