Hell yeah!
If they ask me if I'm female, I just tell them that only when I'm teaching.
I can put of a wig. I'll also tell them that I can either have blonde or afro wig based on their demand. |

If it's to maintain a gender balance in the workplace, I see nothing wrong with it. |

Why does gender have to be balanced? If someone is a good teacher, what difference does it make?
For the sake of diversity? True diversity is on the inside, which something you can't screen for on a job advertisement.te] |

Like a transgendered person is a female, but only on the inside (in her soul) before the operation, when she can be female on both sides.
Pre-op. |

Why does this still bother people. Hey Koreans...it's ok to be racists....we don't mind. Then all of a sudden someone is bothered cause they are also sexist. What a joke.
To be honest. If I had a pre-school I'd want a female. They are a hell of a lot more sensitive than some of the clowns I've seen 'teach' the babies. |

First of all it appears to be a once a week private lesson. If they want a female teacher that is there choice.
I agree with the statement about balance. A good teacher is a good teacher regardless of gender but some students may feel more comfortable with a female and some may feel more comfortable with a male teacher. Not to mention the fact that if you only study with male teachers it will be difficult to understand female speakers during listening exams. Case in Point, I learned Spanish only by living with male spanish speakers but when a female spoke, I had difficulty understanding her. The tones that men and women make while speaking are different. It is good to have balance. Learning from both male and female. I think schools are smart to have a variety.
teacher, people assume he is gay. |

Sometimes it may be a matter of housing. If a school is shacking up a bunch of native teachers together, and they already have a female teacher, they might want another one so they can live together. |

Once again, preference of the employer to hire who he/she wishes. It's their bloody business, let them run it how they feel best. Don't like it? Don't apply. |

Even if they don't put it in the ad, if they only want a female teacher, they're only going to hire a female teacher.
And quite frankly, wouldn't you rather have them spell it out than bother applying for a job that you have no chance of getting? |

Not everything is about you. Some things are about the students. Female students might appreciate having a female teacher for a role model. |
