One of the reasons that I don't give up entirely on religious people are the ones like this who do try to reconcile faith and the world in reasonable ways.

good article. it originally appearing in hyper mainstream USA Today pleased me too. the minister who wrote the piece has also written some excellent pieces on the seperation of church and state and how Christians should view war. He's usually a good read. |

that is so well-written. i'm not a fan of christianity and the biggest reason (but not the only reason, i'll leave that for another time ) is based on the homophobia that is preached. this guy is great, he boosted my faith in logic and reason.
oh yeah, and people too.

Great article. One of the biggest problems I have with mainstream religion is the intolerance and bigotry taught by some. (Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, etc.) It is refreshing to see such a logical and compassionate view expressed by a religious leader. It won't send me back to church, but if more ministers were like Oliver Thomas, it might restore my respect for Christianity. |
