How much is a typical internet installation and monthly charges?
I was told that it would be about 36,000 for first time installation, and 30,000 per month. Isn't that a little high? |

It's about average for DSL. You can get slightly lower rates for a longer term contract or lower bandwidth (megapass lite for example).
You can get lower bandwith (384k) tied into your cable TV on a package for 15k-30k per month including your TV (price dependant on your TV package). |

I'm also interested. Has anyone done any research lately into getting a hookup? Could anyone give us an approximate rundown of the different companies and prices? |

Wow that was quick!
I'm really looking at a budget connection but this was the only option my boss had on hand.
Thanks again for the info. |

I pay 24 000 and hook-up was free. I'm in Cheonan. I'm pretty sure it's not the fastest connection because at certain times it's some slow going for loading pics or whatever. |

You can get internet for as low as 15,000 won per month. You can get internet + cable for around 22,000 won/month. No hook-up fees either, though I believe you must sign a 1-year contract.
You can get the fastest internet in the land for around 34,000 won/month with no installation fees and up to 150,000 won CASH back. Life is good. |

Do you mind telling specifics, instead of 'you can get'?
Which company provides what service that costs the amounts you mentioned?
Aside: I've got hanaro VDSL for about 27K/month - no installation because I have direct debit from my bank account. I could get Powercomm 100Mbps with about 28-30K/month and some cash (less than 120K) back but wasnt satisfied with their connection which just slowed to a crawl in the evenings, so got it disconnected. No money paid for the time I had it. |
