Good on you. I think it's a great idea.
What are you going to call them? Please, not 'Nanny' or 'Billy'. |

well, IF i get them (i want to but am not sure if i will yet), i would definitely milk them and sell/give away some milk. i'm a bit hesitant to name animals that i'm going to eat though...that being said, do you have any good suggestions for names? |

| It sounds like an awesome idea and if my courtyard were not 99.9% paved with ceramic tiles, I'd consider it. I can't communicate with the landlord anyway... |

" only bought a leg of goat today, to hold me over"
I gotta ask. How the heck do you milk just a leg of goat? |

| A really bizzare thread. It ranks right up there with the chap who was asking where you can buy lock picking tools. |

There is a company in Korea selling "organic" goats milk. They had one of their promotion girls set up in Samsung Plaza at Seohyun Station, in the dairy section, giving out samples a few months ago. It was on the shelves there for a while, but not for long. Shelf space is tight at SsP, so things that don't burn up the shelves don't stay for long. (I hear specialty retailers pay some exorbitant rental fee to the supermarkets to use some of the precious space.)
I'll ask a Korean friend to look it up for me some time on the net; I'm sure a search on Naver would turn it up.
Things like that come and go, though. PASTEUR Milk made lactose-free, fat-free milk for a short while, then gave up. (Lactose free is readily available nowadays from MAEIL; it's everywhere; but not fat-free or skim, just regular.) |

No, feta is made from sheep, chevre is made from goats. Both are delicious though. |

Can someone post directions to Moran or Seongnam markets? And, is it cool to take live beasties on the public bus? I live in the middle of the country. I would like to grab up a lamb, (goat is fine too), and definitely a rabbit or three (hare is better).
I only live in an efficiency, but the bathroom is all tile, so I could slaughter them in there for easy cleanup. If I am going to fill my freezer for the winter, I want to make sure what is going in there is fresh kill. |

moran station, bundang line, exit five. walk for a few blocks and turn to the right - you will see tons of animals. you can't miss it. however, you can't bring animals on the subway (at least your not supposed to) or buses.
i'm just going to get one of my friends to drive me.
oh yeah, rabbits are 15000 won for a medium sized one and 20000 won for a large. you can try to haggle though. they didn't have any lambs but tons of goats. mostly black and a few white. |

Feta is a classic curd cheese in brine whose tradition dates back to Greece thousands of years ago. It is made exclusively from goat's and sheep's milk.
