I check into Daves from time to time and have noticed a number of negative and bitter posts towards living here. No place is perfect, but overall there is always balance, and I personally find with the right attitude a balance toward the positive.
So, with that in mind, I would like to create a list of 100 things we like about Korea. I will start with my top 10, the next person to post can add on 11 through whatever number. Try to be specific, don't just say Korean food, name the specific food and a brief description on why. Some things may be more specific to you and your experience here but that is fine. You may not agree with someone, but this is not a place to argue, just post your favorites. Let's see if we can get to 100. I am curious to see what others will post.
Top 100 things we like about South Korea
1. Galbi - gotta love the Korean BBQ, espcially with all the side dishes.
2. Sunrooms - I love having a balcony type room where I can look out over the city.
3. My visa run to Japan - so cool. A free trip to Japan and getting to explore the city, as part of my JOB! Gotta love it.
4. My working hours - I have a ton of free time, more then I ever did in the states and less responsibility.
5. TGI Fridays - When I need a taste of home, I can still go to my favorite restaurant and have a yummy, taste like home meal.
6. Chopsticks- there is something about eating with chopsticks, it makes the meal so much better
7. The subway - I can get around, pretty much anywhere I want to go in a cheap and easy fashion.
8. Everything is a new experience and adventure. Trying to find a pet store! It becomes a one day mini-adventure on the streets of Seoul! Going to the mall? A two hour bus ride adventure that ends you up not only at the mall, but at the Korean World Trade Center, A temple, and a robot show.
9. Foot massages - I got the most amazing $30.00 foot massage in Jeju, my feet had never felt better.
10. Hiking in Korea - we went to a hiking area off the subway and it was so cool, all along the trail were people selling ice cream and cup of noodles, even at the top, a 3 hour climb, straight up, was a guy with a cooler with ice cream at beer. When we went hiking at Surakasan, they had an outdoor restaurant with homemade wine and we sat in nature and enjoyed our bottle. In addition, the hiking is beautiful. |

Your number 10 is one of the worst parts about Korea. You can't escape people. You want to go out in nature. You can't. Ajumma is there selling some kind of shit to everyone.
1. No shoes in the house
2. Scissors to cut meat
3. cheap transportation |

If you can find a less used hiking trail its awesome. There used to be a bunch near my house, and it was a good way of getting away from the craziness. Occasionally an ajuma would come along, but then she'd give me a mandarin, so the interruption was totally fine. Korean mountains/hills are beautiful. |

Pretty sad list--part of your top 10 is: 1) chopsticks 2) TGI Fridays 3) Hiking 4) Experience (huh?) 5) Sunroom? (Do you think everyone has one of these or something? I've never even known a teacher with one.
Don't get me wrong, good idea, and I'm sure with some laboring you could come up with 100, but I just think 5 of your 10 wouldn't make my top 100. |

No Julie. Let's not discuss 100 great things about Korea. Let's discuss how the 10 things you have are wrong or how they suck. 
Anyway..
17. Stop lights are an option, not a requirement.
18. I can ride my motorcycle on the sidewalk.

21. 24 hour everything!
22. When they're in season, Strawberries that tast like they just came from a sunny garden. Back home they're picked under-ripe in Mexico and shippped in freezer cars up to us.
23. Candied strawberries on a stick in the summer, like candied apples but sooo much better!

25. Beautiful and actually nice women (sorry, not trying to turn this into a hack on white women post)
26. Cheap rent; you can find a decent place for $250 a month in the 'burbs.
27. Money making opportunities are so easy to find.
28. You can get drunk on Monday night and no one thinks anything of it. |
