So I've accepted the position in Yeoju. It seems awesome, except for one thing: no gym time. I really feel brutal without exercise, and I gotta have something to get stress out (nothing kills stress like pounding the treadmill for a while).

I asked the camp person I've been communicating with, and this is what she said:

"Oh, you'll be doing plenty of activities with the children anyway!" and then "There's no time for gyms anyway, you're working all week."

Um, I work 8 hours a day during the week and 1-2 hours on Saturday (to say goodbye to the kids leaving camp). Why the hell can't I find a gym? I really don't need anything fancy, just a treadmill or something since it'll be too cold to run outside.

Has anyone heard of this kind of thing? Does anyone know if this city has a gym? A couple posters said it was a small rural town, but surely there's a health club or something where I could run before/after work?

If you city has more then 20k people you can find a gym they are quite popular here.

Koreans are really lazy in that aspect unless they are the healthy type which doesn't occur to often. Its just they think that full days worth of work is enough for physical excercise..

dude, bells just rang for me

is this a camp?
did they say you work for 8 hours?
did the guy just say you'll be too busy for a gym?

If YES to all these, chances are you're "teaching" for 8 hours but spending the rest of the day "supervising" the kids.

watch out.

or i could be completely off. hope so.good luck

When did "I walk to my car everyday" stop being "normal activity" and cross into "exercise" to most people? Ew. Once you start exercising frequently, you feel god-awful when you don't.

Hopefully Yeoju is 20K+! Thanks Wrench.

It does. When I have gone there, I saw one on the second floor of some building somewhat near the main street. I wish I could be more helpful, but I only saw it in passing and I don't know Yeoju very well..

Yes! Awesome, thank you.

I realize I sound like a whiner, but it just feels so bad to not be able to exercise. Especially when you're bigger than everyone else (5'8", size 6, C-sometimes-D-cup), you want to feel like you're keeping your body in shape.
