So the Pentagon is up to it's old tricks, is it 2006 or 1966?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15856195/

Quote:
A year ago, an NBC News investigation revealed the existence of a secret Pentagon database that included information on antiwar protests and American peace activists.

Now, newly disclosed documents reveal new details on who was targeted and which other government agencies may have helped monitor Americans. At universities across the country, an antiwar group called Veterans for Peace has staged protests by setting up crosses for soldiers killed in Iraq. In New Mexico last year, the local paper described the event as a display of honor.

But a previously secret Pentagon intelligence report labeled that same event a "threat to military installations." The report lists the group's upcoming events and warns that while it's a "peaceful organization," there is potential that "future protest could become violent."

When you have some people calling for armed resistance to the US government along with saiod protests (IE:Meegook guy here) It is understandable.

f I were the government I would want to know about these groups to. Why? because while they may appear peaceful now, I'd atelast want a assessment on the chances of them taking a violent turn.

You're paranoid then. The pentagon is spying on these people because the Bush Crime Family hates opposition and this is one way to muzzle it. It's disgusting and American's should be pissed and marching in the streets. I wish I was an American jsut so I could go and protest these bastards.

muzzling it? BS flag on that.

It said spying. Name one anti war group that has been shut down, and or aarrested SIMPLY for opposing the adminstration. You CANT.
Nor have they been told to stop protesting.
So saying their muzzling the opposition is dead wrong.

Paranoid? Not really. Its common sense. Especially after America lambasted Bush for not seeing 9-11 coming, you think the government wants to fall asleep at the wheel again?

Man you are one of those people who doesn't follow things to the logical end. The point of the spying is to dig up info that will be used later by people like Tony Snow, Bill O, Rush, Cheney to discredit legimate, and this far totally accurate, dissent against these wars.

But in 2 years those said people wont be very relevant. Bush won't be in power. It will likely be a democratic president in 2008.
So how does that info help a adminstration leaving?

Also are you asserting Bill O Reilly and Rush Limbaugh work for the CIA and Pentagon?

No, merely that the Pentagon (and the CIA) will do anything to justify their budgets and control over certain things. As a historical example, look at how J. Edgar Hoover ran the FBI and all the craziness that when on there. Why is it with all the past evidence of wrongdoing by these various government organs people, for some reason (and it scertainly ain't congressional oversight), argue that they are now safe and only do proper things. Let's not forget Ollie North had a history before he started debating Mark Furman on FOX.

Octaviu forgot to take his medication.

Its perfectly logical that they monitor thee groups because as has been said, even peaceful groups SOMETIMES become violent ones and its better to know about them.

I felt the earth lurch a few hours ago, but had no idea what could have caused it. I was teaching and paused, then went on. It wasn't until I read this that it became clear:
