In the year that I've been coming here, I've seen many religion-oriented threads, which I generally stay out of. However, I haven't noticed any that look particularly at religious preference, so I thought it would be an interesting topic.

Fanatical agnostic. God or no God cannot ever be known or proved, and I suspect the answers lie well beyond our five puney senses and creature-subjective concepts, thus belief either way is uninteresting and pointless.

My religion is the strict obedience to (and immediate satisfaction of) my whims, desires, lusts, be it legal or illegal, mundane or morally-repugnant. This is the highest good.

All religion is nonsense. It doesn't matter whether you belong to one nonsensical group or another. Atheism, on the other hand, is not a religion. It's the rejection of religion and superstition in all its forms.

Religion is ignorance. It doesn't matter which branch of the Cult of Ignorance you belong to. Tis all the same. Reject it.

Religion is intellectually lazy and scientifically preposterous.

Doesn't everyone here have a university degree? I'm baffled how institutions of higher learning in the scientifically-advanced West can hand out degrees to people who believe in demons, angels, talking snakes and pillars of salt. Shouldn't people have to learn how to think critically and confront past superstitions before being allowed to graduate from an institute of 'higher learning.'

I'm not even convinced that religious people should be allowed to vote. If you think the world is 5000 years old, and that some ancient Hebrew deity created the world in six days (then needed to take a day off to 'rest'), then that's really pathetic. If you think that all the creatures on the planet (millions of species) all fit onto Noah's ark, then you're not intellectually fit to be determining the fate on nations in the third millenium.

Come on people. Give it up already.

I prefer to respect all forms of life Very Happy In doing so, I don't try to cram my beliefs down the throats of others. Life's too short.

That's the kind of crap Hitler and Stalin and Mao taught us.

Sorry, my enlightened brother, but I think I'll pass.

I like the term "religious preference". After all, it is just another lifestyle choice, isn't it?

I'm an atheist, with no apologies. I don't need to prove that there is no god in order to not believe in one any more than I need to prove that there are no pink tigers on Sirius B in order to not believe in them. When religious types ask me to believe in the existence of supernatural beings the burden of proof is theirs. They haven't produced any convincing proof, as far as I'm concerned, and until they do I'll remain unconvinced.
