|
|
| Seriously, what's up with Korean men wearing lipstick? First, it was the pretty-boy set, then over 60's TV ajossi's, now my high school boys. I mean, the most (until now) down to earth male students, I look at their face, at first I can't place what's odd, then, "Oh my Gosh, are you wearing LIPSTICK?" I'd say roughly two dozen, or 10% of my 1st year HS male students regularly wear lipstick. Anyone else noticing this trend, or am I living in the Twilight Zone part of Korea? |

Wierd! Of course I suppose it goes well with the hair accesseries and pink shirts/sweaters.
I have to use lipbalm this time of the year. My school students give me a hard time saying I'm putting on lipstick.
What's next? Fake eyelashes? |

| There are a few male students that I would like to slap in the face but I don't want to get rouge on my hands. |

| I had a student whose wife made him wear makeup to go with his salon styled hair. Strange character that one. |

| I was in Myeong-dong Saturday night when I saw one of the prettiest Korean men I've ever seen putting on make-up in the subway toilet. He had hair that was meticulously styled, western boots with a heel for more height, and a figure most western women would die for. He and his two mates who were preening themselves by the mirror really genuinely couldn't understand why I was laughing at them, either. |

I dont think there's anything wrong about guys who want to wear makeup. Back in high school, some guys painted their nails and put on makeup and lipstick. It was all black, some type of Goth look.
europe in the days, men wore tight clothes, fancy wigs, painted their faces white. It was high fashion then.
70s and 80s rock , men wore lots of makeup, and skin tight pants.
In Korea, its just a fashion phase.
I think that Korea doesnt have that fine line between masculinity and femininity.
Yesterday I was watching a Korean comedy show where some guys looked like ANIME cartoons, esp the blond one.
Anyways, right now my lips are really chapped from the weather, Its really red and it looks like I have natural red lipstick on. I put some lip mositurizer, now it looks like I wear glossy lipstick. |

Uh... you're blind, right? How can you see their faces and tell they're wearing lipstick? |

Doesn't even make sense as written. Most Western women would die for a flat chest?? (to say nothing of a third leg ) |

I think guys can look good with makeup. You have to wear it right and look macho enough to keep it from looking gay (Unless thats what your going for and thats ok too just not too attractive to me). I really think a bit of black eyeliner can make men look amazing. Then again, I was into goth as a younger adult.

Yesterday, one of my students had a few pictures in her bag of some supposedly hot Korean singer that all the girls go wild over. His name sounds like "It." Maybe it's more like "Eata." Well, anyway, the guy has this weird '80s rock hairstyle and wears lipstick.
I said to my student, "Oh, who's the girl?"
Her response: "It's no girl! It's Eata!!!"
Me: "Wow, that girl almost looks like a boy."
Her response: "Eata IS a boy!!!!"
Me: "Are you sure? You're not lying to teacher, are you?"
Her: "You ugly! You ugly!"
Me: "YOU'RE ugly, too."
Man, I had a blast in that period. |

yeah i saw a dude the other night in bundang, i was coming out of the mini-stop, he was going in... i really had to contain myself. i don't have a problem with guys wearing makeup, i think it can be hot, but this guy wasn't wearing it well, just his regular self with red lipstick! the colour just didn't suit him at all...

I'm seeing more, but Im riding the subway more than I ever did before.
I thought they were just transvestites... If they have an adams apple, but they're in a skirt, does that count?
Really big hands are a giveaway too. |

Ahhh-haaa-haaa-haaa!!
Korean men jumped from "metrosexual" to "just full-on g.a.y" overnight.
The speed of the transition is the scary part, not necessarily the results...............NO....check that....the results are, in fact, craptacular. |
