It seems that schools are now requiring these for work in the public school system. I think they are a good thing, but how do I go about doing it from Korea?
I know there are those on-line sites that say they will check for you, but would that be acceptable, or would I have to contact the RCMP in Canada and have it done that way? (I've heard it can take quite a while)
Anyone out there done this?
Thanks in advance. |

Hey man i had to go about getting my criminal record check from the R.C.M.P a while back (for a different reason though) and it took almost 9 months to get it back to me here in korea. What i would suggest is call the local cop shop in your town and have them run a check from there and then send or fax you and official looking document. I had to do this also and it only took about 2 weeks.
Good luck...
(getting the fingerprints done at the korean police station was something of a nightmare as well, took 4 different trips there to get it right). |

Hey, I did this recently. I took an OLDER Korean friend to the local police headquarters, and he asked them if they would print me. Once he explained why, it was cool. Then I wrote to my mother and asked her to take the prints and the request to the local police station.
I wrote a letter for the police station explaining what I needed and why I needed it. Included in the letter was permission to release my information to my mother. For EPIK, they required that the police officer who ran the check, include his business card, with his phone number, and that an official seal be used to mark the verification letter. They did so, and sent the originals (not a fax) back to Korea.
Once I got sorted out on how to do it (search other threads here), it was actually pretty easy. |

You had to get yourself fingerprinted?
Hmmm. This is not sounding good. I thought they could just run my name and SIN number in their computer and then print out a form.
But thanks for the help, I may have to go this route. I don't know, I just assumed there would be an easier way.

The fingerprints were to establish a chain of custody for the request.....to make sure I was who I claimed to be... they won't release information like that without knowing the course if legit.
That being said, there might just be another way that I dont know about, but I believe that's the easiest and fastest way. |

I know three public school teachers and not one of them had to go through this. |

I may be able to get them to drop it, one guy here said he told them it was impossible without a trip back to Canada and they let him alone. But that was last year....
It seems like it's a new requirement that they are trying to impliment, so I don't know how strict they will be in my case.
Anyway, thanks for the link and the help.

If they don't drop it, you;ll have to tell them it will take a minimum of 4 months to receive results... I just got mine back last month, and I applied for it in June. |
