Someone I know confessed to something horrible and I would like to report it to the police. Can I do it online? If so, do you have the link?
Thanks |

I was thinking along the lines of 'whatever happened to "forgiveness is divine" "love the sinner" "turn the other cheek" etc.?'

If you were the victim of the crime and you really think the perp needs some schooling, then go to the police. That is totally your perogative.
If it was someone who confided in you in trust, you should perhaps think twice. Even if you don't care for them personally, if they came to you in a real 'cofessional' way, you shouldn't betray them.
It will come down to their word vs. yours if you do go to the police. If they deny their confession, you will be up the creek legally, and will have made one big enemy. Revenge in such a stuation is sure to be a factor. Trying to turn someone in who has commited a major crime has gotten many people a sound beating and then some. |

So all these folks are taking the catholic priest route. Maybe you should send your friend to another parish. The law isn't just for you it protects everyone. Place yourself in the shoes of the victim, if there was a victim.
If you were the victim of the horrible crime what would you want someone who had knowledge of the crime to do?
There is also a concept in law called "ex post facto", and accessory after the fact, your friend by telling you has put you in a position that could be detrimental to your present legal standing.
If some sharp investigator were to figure out your identy before you get to the authorities with your knowledge, well I would not want to be in that position.
If you read the above in your best Jack Nicholson voice you will get your most chilling effect.
Good luck with your decision. Consider the victim.

Sad.
Now, let's see if we can actually keep the punters from temptation:
People, do not reply to this thread any longer. Be strong, he's a schmuck but we can do it.
Chimes from my normal stalkers do not count, all good people:
