Donald Trump was on Larry King yesterday. What is your opinion of him? Is he a real businessman, showman or both? It's rare to see any of the business elite present themselves in public so freely. Corporate bosses like to hide away.

I'd like to see lots of thread about celebrities on Dave's. It's interesting to get people's opinions on them.

he's an egomaniac genius huckster. his greatest skill is convincing people how good he is, and then exploiting that reputation.
for example- he sells his name to other companies, who stick labels like 'trump world' (ie. the one in yeouido) on their buildings. they can then command higher rents from suckers, and split the difference with him. he makes a sh1tload of easy, reliable money in that way.

he's also a master of squeezing the most out of everything. my previous company's head office was in the trump building on wall street, and one time they had to obtain a letter from the landlord (ie. the trump organisation) stating that they operated out of that office, in order to get regulatory permission for something or other. the company's lawyers said sure, no problem, we'll write you a quick letter- but it will cost you one thousand dollars!! not bad for five minutes' work!

Oh great.

Anyway, Trump? The man has a ridiculous wig and no dignity. He's not any more important than any other corporate leader, except he doesn't have the grace to keep his private life private.

He just wrote a book with some Japanese American guy being published by "Rich Press", his own publishing company I assume. The name sounds so childish. Smile

I don't like Trump. I don't like millionaires either. I wouldn't mind being one I guess, but in the meantime I will continue to dislike rich people.

Still, I think a lot of rich people are important and maybe even necessary. They employ a lot of people, they generate business for many people, they help the economy. Someone like Michael Jordan had a huge impact on the economy, in the billions every year.

I suppose it's hard to accept that a few are unbelievably rich and so many are terribly poor.

Whatever can be said for Trump himself, his show "The Apprentice" is some entertaining TV. It's on OnStyle every so often and I find myself becoming addicted.

How many millionaires have you ever known? On a personal level? They can be great people to hang out with.

Actually, I saw Donald Trump in real life and he seemed very brutal yet honest. He's the kind of guy who says wats on his mind, and if anything, you can feel his genuiness.

As far as the "Jap-American" he's working with, his name is Robert Kiyosaki, and that man is doing a great deal of good for America and the world financially. check out his website www.richdad.com

Robert Kiyosaki's books can be found in just about anyplace that has books these days for sale.

At times I wonder if this entire real estate speculation buying for profit that has been so rampant during these Bush years is mostly because of his books.

I'd suspect that low interest rates, no-money-down loans, and interest-only loans have had more to do with it.
