Ladies and Gentlemen.
This thread is to announce the sad and untimely passing of "Saxon" Nick Chubb. He was a teacher in the Incheon area for four years. A funeral service is being held at Gil Medical Centre in Incheon. The phone number is 032-460-3114. The funeral will start at 2:00 and run for about an hour.
A second less formal service will begin at The Goose Goose Bar in Bupyoung after 4:00 for those who knew him but are uncomfortable with going to a formal service.
Donations to help pay for the funeral expenses will be accepted at both locations.
I know this may seem harsh and cold but it is the only way we whom are organizing this sad memorial service can be sure that we did everything we could to contact as many of his friends as possible. If you knew him and this is your first notification of his passing then I profoundly apologize.
If you would like more information, message me or post and I will respond ASAP.
Thank you

I'm sorry for your loss. Thanks for the information as news does not flow very quickly in this part of the world (if you're from outside of Korea, that is). |

Does anybody know if Nick was fond of Club DeBut and Olde Towne Club on I'taewon's "Hooker Hill?" There was a good sort of guy (about 6'0" tall and 185 pounds or so) I used to run into on The Hill, and he had the same given name and resided in In'cheon City.

In three years of knowing the deceased I am 80 per cent certain that he did not frequent any clubs in Itaewon. He did do Gecko's for the fish and chips but that is about all. Mostly we stuck to The Goose Goose in Bupyoung.
If you want to confirm this I can email a picture to you if you PM me and you can be certain.

You might want to post directions to the Goose Goose for those who don't already know how to get there. It's possible that there might be people who knew him that have never frequented the place. All the best.
Thanks. |

Directions to The Goose Goose.
From Bupyoung station walk out of the station in front of the Lotte department store and walk around the right of the taxi circle to the main road. Across the street is a Starbucks. Cross the street and emerge from the underground with the Starbucks on your right. There will be a construction fence on your right and a main road on your left.
Follow the road until you get to the first street on your left. You will see an eye-glass shop and then the street and a Body shop on the corner and a Face shop next to it. Cross the main street and go down the left street with the Body shop on your right.
At an "open circle" you will see a women's underwear/bathing suit shop on your left and then two roads on the right. Take the FIRST right and start walking.
You will pass a sporting goods shop, a Mr. Pizza, and then a dance club.
The Goose is a downstairs bar on the right. You will see a white sign with red letters saying "The Goose Goose American Style Bar" and a VERY large sign over it facing the street. Two narrow swinging doors and an average flight of stairs down and you are there. Please tell people that you are there for Saxon's service as the bar will not be closed but there will be a lot of speeches, crying, toasting, and we will be controlling the video and music for the hour or so. In other words if you are looking for a fun, uplifting place to go for a drink, this will NOT be the place from about 4:00-6:00 on Sunday. Otherwise feel free to drop by.
Thanks for everyone who has sent their well wishes.
Sincerely,
Bradley |
