I have lost my ARC and need a replacement. When I got the original, I had to visit immigration twice, once to hand in all the paperwork and the photos and then a second time to pick up the card. Is there any way I could minimize this to just one visit? I know I will have to go and pay them the 10,000 won and give them 2 new photos but do you think it's possible to have them send the card in the mail? I ask this because my district immigration office takes 3 hours to get to! Thanks for any advice.

After losing mine I reported it to the police...dunno why I had to do this...just followed advice of my Korean boss. The police filled out some sort of form which I signed and within days I got a new ARC card without having to visit Immigration.

I am sorry I am being a little vague but it was one of those things where I was just signing papers and not really knowing what was going on.
All I know is that I got my ARC back quickly in the mail and it cost me nothing!

Check out what your boss has to say about this and maybe he knows what to do as far as reporting the card lost to the police.

I lost mine. just went to immigration and they made me a new one there and then - all details including photo were on file. Think it cost about 20,000. Easy peasy.

Yeah, if it was "lost" like in your wallet or on a train or something, you should file the police report, but if it was "lost" like accidently thrown in the garbage (did THAT once!) or "misplaced" by your school (happened with my husband's card), then you don't. Immi just asks you to write down what happened to it and pay W10,000. You don't even need a new photo. Just bring your passport.

As for the question about reducing it to one trip, yes, you can have them send it to you. Sometimes, depending on the worker, you have to pay a minimal fee, but it's probably worth it for the time you would waste getting there and back.

You CAN do it in one trip...and have your card when you leave (well, at least in the Daejon office!). When my office lost my husband's card, we just went down to Daejon, filled out a form, paid W10,000, waited 10 minutes, and walked out WITH the card!
