That is pretty common now. Gangnam is better than that.

When they say this, do they mean a single room in a shared apartment or a single room apartment (i.e. a studio/efficiancy apartment)?

And does the 2 mil include the extra transportation and provinicial allowances (which my reading seems to indicate- 1.8mil +100k +100k) or are they saying the public school wage in that area is higher (2.0mil + 100k + 100k)?

Just trying to understand the phraseology in this business.

And isn't a job posting 4 months out rare even for a public school?

If it's a public school, the chances of shared housing is very slim. Just because people are usually too far from eachother or the schools would actually have to work together (most rural schools, heck, even some urban ones only have one teacher).

Don't know about the second question. I am not recruiting for them Wink I just wanted to point out the vacation.

And no, it's not rare. There have been many job ads for public schools recently. Many, many. Footprints is recruiting for August next year.

do you have the link? we're sorting out our vacation classes/days off in the next few days, and want to be armed with this in case I have to make a deal for my "extra week off" so I can sit on a beach for an extra week instead of sitting in the teachers' office.

It was on www.eslteachersboard.com, in the Korean section.

Just search for the Masan one.

4 weeks...not bad in contract.

my contract has 6 weeks official....about 9 or 10 unofficially. Kangnam and Gunpo are the best.

That does look like a good job. Shame it is all the way down in Busan.

Are you going to go for it Laogaiguk?

I looked into those jobs. I think they said they are going to employ 15 teachers for the MAsan area. They didn't answer my question about whether they would be willing to negotiate on the amount of holidays, just kept saying look at the contract. I decided to stay where I am because I couldn't find any jobs that match the one I have.

Haha, no. My job is better (6 official weeks in the contract). Salary and stuff are a bit higher too.

That's very similar to my contract.

My on site hours are less, Contract said 8:30-4:00. My second school only needs me there for classes (10:30 to 3:00). My max classes are 25 though.

My vacation is just like that but the bit about working elsewhere is different. Mine has a clause about working camps/teaching workshops. I'll be teaching from 9 to 12 or 1 during the kids vacation time.

Salary is right (top end). My schools are in the countryside outside Busan. A 45-50/35-40 min commute to the school from my house in central Busan.

Not bad really.

I got my job through a recruiter.

My friend was offered this contract a while back and Mansan wanted 24 hours teaching a week (before O/T).
Seems they are having trouble filling the positions and have dropped the teaching hours to the usual 22
