| Gee, those folks were offended. I am now teaching in an urban school in the US. If I had a dollar for every time I heard that word coming out of the mouthes of a black students, I could double my salary. Cut me a break! |
So you really can't see how blacks saying to each other might be slightly different from a white saying it to a black? Please... |

I was looking at that thread where everyone is all assed up because Micheal Richards used the N-word! True. He didn't use wise judgment screaming it out several times in public.
But I use the N-word all the time. I even use it on white people.
I also use the C-word. That's my all time favorite.
And all I want to know is the truth. Have you ever said the N-word?
If you've never said it, then you have the right to all your moral outrage.
But if you have said it,--even whispered under your breath--then you're no better than Michael Richards or a dumb redneck like me.
So fess up! Have you said it? |
I use **** alot, ever since I've become a big fan of Deadwood. Oh, i use ********* alot too.Mod Edit: Edited for language. |
What I love about the c-word is it's absolute vulgarity.
If you were in the pit of hell and yelled the c-word, everything would go silent.
Satan then would send you an e-mail requesting you to change your behavior.
It's such an ugly word but powerful nonetheless. |
Me too mate.
The c-word and the t-word (and I much prefer the American way - using it solely to insult women; we British males call one another c's and t's)....it's a wonderful sight to see a guy call a woman who truly deserves it a cnut or a tawt. Generally it should be discouraged. Sometimes, rarely, it's immensely satisfactory.
I wouldn't use the n-word simply because I don't have any contempt for blacks. Blacks don't affect me at all.
I will confess to being a bit of a misogynist however. Women have much significance in my life, can hurt me, threaten me, totally influence the way I feel. This I resent. Any heterosexual male claiming not to have some ill will towards the fairer sex is a liar in my opinion.
Women are [insert b-word, c-word and t-word in the plural] and men are arseholes, richard-wads, morons, idiots, ba5tards, fookfaces, richard-heads. The fact that men are still deemed the more powerful sex is the reason using masculine words to insult a male is less taboo than calling a woman a 'c'. Same with blacks and whites. If a black says "you white barstud" to me, it won't affect me. If a white calls a black an 'n' it's completely repugnant. Some of white dominance still lingers. Some male dominance still lingers. Actually, the fact that whites put so much stock into the offensiveness of 'n', whilst resisting any racism against them, suggests blacks are still not seen as truly equal in white society. Same with women. Calling a woman a 'b' or a 'c' is so bad because women are still viewed as weaker. Blacks get so offended by white use of 'n' because their history has affected the way they feel to such an extent they still view themselves as unequal, victims of injustice. By making all race and gender words of equal offensiveness, we'd make all human life completely equal. |

I didn't realise that in some circles c*** only refered to women. I've generally only heard it apply to men, except when one drunk middle aged American guy called me an "evil c***" for suggesting that sex tourism exploited vulnerable women and children. What a c***ish suggestion! I was rather surprised and amused, as that was my first experience of being called a c***. Of course, just as I suspected, it turned out he was a regular patron of Asian brothels.
I have noticed that while men use it liberally, they frown on women using it. So as women, we can use it for spectacular effect. I remember a Geordie girl who had an amazing talent for talking through burps. The pub was full of men who regularly called each other c***s. "Alright, 'ow's it going yer c***?" was a common greeting. Yet these same men were shocked and disgusted when this young woman burped out a loud "F***off yer c***s!" They all muttered angrily amongst themselves, except for her husband who gazed at her adoringly! I just loved looking at the hypocritical reaction of the blokes. They would have all been so bloody proud if they could have burped out swear words like that!! |
