Myself as well as about 6 other teachers from my school are going to go to the tax office tomorrow to check if our boss is submitting all of the tax money to them. We are all paying at a 5% rate, where i know most people here are at about 2.8%, so we just want to see what is what. What should we bring with us, other than the realization that we are ****ed when we go back to the school in the afternoon?

sometimes I just don't understand how useless some people are in this country.

Immigration has a list of foreigners here with E-2 visas.
Give this list to the tax department and then they can check and make sure everyone is paying taxes (it can be computerized).

do they do this? No. For such an advanced country with such good connectons you'd think they could set up a simple transfer of information from point a to b.

I went to the local tax office a couple of months ago. They weren't able to help me. I was told that my boss had until the end of the year to pay all the taxes. They gave me the tax rate I should be paying but were unable to do anything about me being charged more than that because they have no evidence of me paying taxes at all. Until your boss submits the taxes you owe and you can actually see the discrepancy between what your boss charged you for taxes and the actual taxes he submitted, there's nothing the tax office can do. At least, there was nothing they could do for me.

There's some weird tax laws here. Pension needs to be paid monthly but the tax office is satisfied with being paid once a year. If you can find the tax record of someone who'd worked the last tax year you could probably verify the rate you should be paying. Good luck!

Thanks, actually i went today and gave them my tax statements for the past 2 years. They were very helpful and assured me that i was in the right and my boss was doing some very shady dealings. He has been taking 5% and only submitting 3% to the tax office. They gave me a form and when i bring it back to them they will give me an official letter to give to my boss saying that he MUST immediately pay me back the 2%that he has been stealing from me. Should get fun real soon.......

For months, there have been ongoing payroll accounting issues at my current place of employment, so I went to the tax office last week and taked with a young guy who was very polite, but seemed like absolutely no help at the time.

However, he called the number of my school that was listed on my pay slip to see what was up. No one was at school, so he left a message. I don't know if he ever had a conversation with them but, on Monday, the school handed out slips that had how much they were going to pay back to us.

Where do I go to get the issue of the unemployment insurance resolved? Is the unemployment insurance purchased from a private insurance company or is it through a governmental agency?
