I was wondering if anyone has had evaluations in their school. I don't mean by the director but by the students. At my school this week the students are filling out evaluations about the teachers. Mind you this is a Hagwon I work at where there isn't a kid over 14. Many of the teachers are freaking out about it. I think it's pretty stupid and am not too concerned. Has anyone had this happen before and if so what came about afterwards.

i heard that all the EPIK teachers will be evaluated on Dec. 12.

My hagwon does evaluation on a monthly basis.

Students are asked to evaluate not only the teachers but also the overall learning experience. I think it's pretty good idea since it offers chances for both the school and teachers to improve.

I work for a company (my students are adults), and we are evaluated by them during every 10-week program at mid-term and at the end of the program. We are evaluated on our "preparation," "enthusiasm", and "teaching ability."

A "very satisfied" is ranked as a 100% and a "satisfied" is ranked as a 75%. Then, all of totals are averaged for every class, and we have a private meeting with the director about the result. The "goal" is a 90% satisfaction rating.

If your students are children, how detailed could the evaluation be? Don't worry about it. My (completely uneducated) guess is, this is some way to justify some treatment they want to bestow on you. See what happens.

All teachers at my uni (Korean and foreigners alike) are evaluated every semester. I never worry about it.

About 12.12 and public schools...it would seem that Dec. 12 is the olde big "Reporting Day." It's a day where you get to present a lesson with your Korean co-teacher while parents, other teachers, local MOE officials and anyone else standing around can watch and marvel at the splendor of "co-teaching" - which is quite a lark in my end of the pool!

Later on that same day, I get to go to a 30-40 minute ceremony at another school in the neighbourhood. After that, "dinner."

I'm actually looking forward to this, because I have not received ANY feedback insofar as my lesson plans, evaluations or anything else is concerned. I've been doing this since July. I am a little concerned about what may be said (Long Story posted AFTER 12.12) but I am not that worried either. If they don't like the feel of the tapestry, I have no issues with what may come down the pipe. If things go south quickly, I'll just go back to hogyerwon land - where you always know where you stand! LOL

What an utter farce. I wouldn't even bother to read evaluations done by students less than high school age. What you should do when your boss hands over the evaluations, take the lot of them and throw them in the bin right in front of him.

Would you work as a guard at a prison that had the inmates evaluate the staff?
