I'm sure this has happened to at least one person. Has anyone ever given notice to quit and then never saw their last paycheck? If so, is there a way to get it?
I plan on leaving my hagwon and I'm worried that I won't get paid. I've only been there for 2 months, but I can't stand it. |

Ask for a Letter of Release and inform them that you have friends in the National Tax Service who like to do surprise tax audits. All Korean businesses commit tax fraud, and so they'll be soiling their boxer shorts or panties. |

If you only been here for 2 months, then they'll definitaly be taking out the cost of the airfare to get you here and more than likely it will say that also in your contract.
They'll take this at the very least and probably some other things too. |

Maybe not in your contract but that doesn't mean they won't try to take it. Just a heads up for the possibility. About the cost, my friend was offered 800k recruiter fee to find someone, so I'm gonig on that.
You really should try to discuss all this with your boss instead of just waiting for a surprise. Try to get him/her to commit to something. |

Word.
For the record, I'm not suggesting that you bail on your contract; but, if there is no other way out of an intolerable situation, then look at jumping out of that hypothetical Airbus as the alternative.
Any city in Japan, Hong Kong, or, although I do not like the place, Taipei City, Taiwan may be a good place to work until your contract period expires.
I'd look for work in Hong Kong, Sapporo, Osaka, Tokyo, and Yokohama.
Shenzen, P.R.C., which is next door to Hong Kong and has more than a few well-paying E.F.L. gigs, is cool for a short jaunt. Too many local cowboys and cowgals, though, to consider it a long term option.
