Ok I have been working in China for about 1 1/2 years. ( In the USA right now.)

Am thinking of giving Korea a try. Any input on China vs Korea?

Base salary in China is 8000 rmb ( about $1000 us) a month, inc Apt and the company I am working with will provide me an airline ticket upfront. Not just the cost but actually buy the ticket for me to come to China. They will also pay the visa. The work ours are 20 class/hours a week. They said I can work side jobs , no problem.

Korea, having discussions with Park English - for no other reason than I picked them out of the xx number of odd companies out there. Salary is 2.1 mill (about $2000 US a month), they will provide an apartment, single also, and pay visa costs and also provide an airline ticket upfront for me to come to the country.

So, $1000 a month in China or $2000 a month in Korea. Which do you think will allow me to make more money, have more fun, and leave a more peaceful life? I don't know much about the cost of living in Korea and have done some web searching about this. Hours in Korea are 30 a week, pm shift.

The salary difference is important, and I have an idea of the cost of living in China.

The other is PARK ENGLISH. Insight good or bad from anyone?

And yes, i have went through the Korean forums for many days.

For 1000 a month in China you are going to get one hell of a lot more value for your yuan. 2000 beans in Corea doesn't quite buy what it used to.

If you can pull in 1000 solid with 20 hours a week and an apartment... with no complaints on side jobs?? I would go with China.

That and Chinese food is better.

What about culture value of Korea vs China?

You don't say in which city in China you are in. There's a big difference on cost of living and cultural features depending on where in China. If you're in a big, ugly city such as Guangzhou, for example which has some relatively high priced stores, then you'll be 'better off' in Korea re savings and 'culture'.

Korean 'culture', landscape and even pay structure is probably where China is going to be in about 25 years time.

Don't just factor in the salary as your net gain in the teaching experience. What about teaching hours, vacation period, free housing, free lunch, severance pay, students' reasons for studying at your institute - forced or motivated, professional development opportunities, decent facilities...

You can probably add up for yourself how much you are going to get financially. I think any teacher can state that they can put at least 1 mill (US$1000) away in the bank per month with an average lifestyle in Korea.

The current prospect is in Shenzhen. Don't know the cost of living there. I have lived in Quanzhou, where i would say the cost of living is medium - low.
