I've read heaps of statistics on accidents and how they happened in this sport written by a California doctor who compiles reports of incidents, and who also paraglides (for twenty years). It's safer than motorcycle driving (it's said). I'm up for giving it a go, in Cheju Do. I've seen this sport being done 'all over' Korea and figure it must be practised on Cheju Island. Just checking with those who've lived, worked, in Cheju and seen paragliders there.............

I can't say i have chief to be perfectly honest, you've got me finking, but not once in all of the time i have been here. I have been here for three of the seasons and now entering my fourth and no not once. We don't get seasons in blighty it's always foggy but despite the seasons here, nope not once. To get a wider perspective do a posting on rhymeswithjeju which is part of yahoo groups, you will need to register but one of the many vets will give you a definite answer.

Sorry i can't help more.

The charge.

It exists in Jeju, and there are groups that go every weekend - in the winter and during cooler weather, not sure... I've attemted to go 3 times (3 weekends in a row), but all 3 times the conditions weren't suitable - too windy, or not windy enough... I've lost touch with the group (this was a while back), so no one to refer to, but, as mentionned, there are groups that go out often... It's possible, and a great place for it, I imagine...

As DRAMA said, there are quite a few people who go here. In fact, I've even seen a race on the southern side of the island! It seems to mostly happen during the warmer months, though I'm not sure.

I actually did it once, about 7.5 years ago. As I recall, it was W50,000 for a few hours of lessons and a couple of (solo!) jumps. Wicked fun, though I crashed into some rose bushes that happened to be planted on top of some razor-sharp volcanic rock. No serious injuries, and quite a few laughs.

Any websites to reserve spots, or to find more info?
