|
|
I have a plane ticket that will be mailed from Canada to Korea.
The ticket is valued at $1400 CND. How should we label the value of the package with UPS? I'm not not sure if we should label the package as being worth $1400, or for less? I would hate to think if it was stolen, as i am leaving korea soon!!
Any advice??
Thanks a million! |

why not just do online reservations? I haven't used a physical ticket in like 7 years at least. |

It seems to me the OP has purchased their ticket already and has a very specific question about mailing it.
And I would be willing to bet, that the OP, being an international traveler ( he is here in Korea) has heard about online reservations.
Reminds me when I ask for bus or subway directions and I am told to take a cab. Really, I say , you have cabs here?
I doubt the value of the ticket is it's purchase price and you would have to pay insurance on the stated value and it may raise a flag in customs as well. Tickets are usually worthless to anyone but the passenger named on it, but you would have a lot of time and some costs involved if you lost it. It could take months to get a refund. So that could be your value as well. That being said, I would insure it for what I paid for it, because if it was lost, you would have a problem. |

I'd make a copy and send the original. Find out from the airlines - getting a duplicate ticket (if its lost) is usually not a big deal. If you're sending it via UPS, it should be pretty safe. If you're particular on the amount, declare a value same as the extra charge for a replacement paper ticket. |

Call UPS. There are rules about declaring values for things like plane tickets. |

I think the value should be stated as how much it will cost to reissue the ticket should it be lost.
If you decare something as $1000 US then you will have to pay extra insurance to UPS.
And E Tickets do make life much easier, indeed.
is it not possible to have the sender request the ticket be Eticketed then you can just print it out? |

Wouldn't it be easier to just call UPS and ask? Or get whoever is going to mail it to ask?
(as huffdaddy recommended) |
