if you were in Greeley

The feedlots were nasty...on three sides of town, so it didn't much matter which way the wind was blowing, we got hit with the stench. On top of that were the sugar beet refineries.

But my favorite thing about Greeley was that for some peculiar reason, when it started to snow, the school sent out the maintainance guys to shovel cow manure on top of the snow. I guess it was to absorb sunlight and melt the snow...I don't know, but all it did was mean people had cow s*** on their shoes and tracked it into the classrooms. That alone was enough to turn a boy anti-establishment.

When I'm not burning patchouli, I like to burn the fruit flavored ones. I know 'scent' is 'correct', but strawberries and vanilla etc have flavor. So there.

I am in no way a hippie, not one bit. I am close, being a grunge punk, but I am no hippy. That said, I always liked sandalwood. By the way you self-identifying hippies, doesn't it seem a little ironic that you are online discussing ways to find a specific brand of expensive insense "nag champa". Why not just go down to the local stationary store and buy a few packs? They have all flavors.

A poster called "nobrand" recently got me some as a gift. If you pm him he might tell you where he got it.

There's lots of Satya 'nag champa' on eBay. Is this stuff any good?

By the way, you can also find it online in Korea (try searching for 'nag champa 판매' or 'nag champa 장미향' (hint: if you want to find anything for sale in Korea, do a search for the English name with '판매').

Nag Champa all the way.
Bought myself a variety pack of some incense from the local store to banish the smell of stale party from my apartment and basically got laughed out of the joint. Not sure exactly what the woman was laughing at....maybe she thought I was a hippie.

Frankincense, followed by sandalwood, followed by mogra flower. Only one stick of sandalwood left, so I'm saving it, burning stuff from the dollar shop in Fukuoka instead.
Also into (wow! "into" there's a hippy word) fragrant oils these days, too.

i'm curious about your meaning here... does identifying as a hippie mean that one must shun expensive things? that one must accept whatever can be found, in this case, crappy incense? that one can't afford to spend the money? that one can't enjoy luxuries?
i grew up as a hippie. am i a hippie now? i don't think so. i certainly carry some hippie values and ideals, but i don't identify as a hippie. that being said, i like incense. if i'm gonna burn something to make my place smell good, well then, shouldn't it smell good? sure i can go to the chun won store and buy some cheap crappy incense, but it won't smell good to me. i'd rather smell something i enjoy.
i don't see the irony here...
oh yeah, my other favourite incense is laxmi dhoop. that's right, another pricey indian import! Smile

I just ordered some incense. You guys got me curious about nag champa, so I ordered 250g of Shanthimalai nag champa. I've only read good things about its quality. More importantly, it is hand-made by a women's run co-operative to the benefit of disadvantaged in the Tamil Nadu region of India.

I'm just like that Victoria William's song where she sings that she was too young to be a hippy; missed out on the love... "Summer of Drugs". I think Soul Assylum covered it in the Sweet Relief Benefit. I've got the nag champa lit and it smells wonderful!! Need to light it up more often. It really helps me to relax. It's really amazing!!
