I read so many horror stories prior to my arrival in Korea that I practically necked with my director when he dealt me a paltry eight classes a day ...

... but eight cho-ding classes a day has since proven too much for me. Generally, I'm too spacey and chilled out for kids who are still missing teeth, peeing/pooping their pants, etc. More specifically, I am terrified of my director (who wields a large stick) and vaguely suspicious that my hagwon is in the process of swiftly going down the tubes (i.e. sticking me with thirteen classes a day and skimping out on my pay). Even if the shit hits the proverbial death fan, I could survive until the end of my contract, but probably not without suffering a nervous breakdown and subsequently becoming a lifelong trot devotee.

I'm looking into teaching someplace a little more highbrow, where my primary teaching role isn't as a dartboard, a pommel horse, or a trash can. (I know that's a lot to ask.) I've found a few university positions, where the students (presumably) will not pee their pants (in class). Is switching schools pretty impossible, or is it worth doing if you're discontented and ritualistically molested by eight year-olds?

Thanks.
