5,000 won pizza joints, French Fry restaurants, McDonald's, Burger King, greasy street food, it's all there.

Let's face it. Korean's are beginning to get fat!

There's hardly any P.E. in public schools in the country. I hardly make it to a gym because of my office job.

Where are Richard Simmons or Billy Blanks when you need them?

45 minutes of p.e. each day in public school. not enough but about average or above average when compared to North american schools.

We had PE twice a week in my high school. Here they have textbooks for PE, and the classes are longer than back home. Stop talking out your arse pal.

Hmm...next thing you'll be citing Fast Food Nation and blaming Americans for the Korean diet. Koreans are "creating" new "fusion" dishes because their own staple diet is so relentlessly boring. I know kimchee is the national dish but must we have it with every meal? And, sorry, but I don't care if they've found 15 different ways to use ketchup.

First off, Koreans are still thinner on average than most urban Chinese. What weight is being added comes from a sedentary lifestyle more than anything else.

Second, although traditional Korean food is healthier to be sure, it all tastes the same to me. Not very imaginative in my book. Even good Chinese street food is tastier than Korean sit-down dinner and cheaper.

You guys haven't obviously seen the news recently.

On another note, student's eating habits start at a young age. I see moms and dads at food courts stuffing themselves and their children with fried foods. Very disheartening.

Ramyeon - One of the most nutritionally deficient foods on the shelf.

White rice - Your digestive system breaks this down into sugar. Best thing to do with a sack of white rice is lift it.

Foreigner in Korea Physique of a God Plan

Eat nothing but kimchi and galbi and lay off the booze, and do 100 burpees a day for exercise, do this and you'll be cut.

You can talk about nutrition all you like, but like with most things, people will eat what they want to eat.

You can lead a horse to water.......

You can educate them, make them be aware, but at the end of the day its up to the individual and it's their choice to make.

So who cares!

Nutrition is an essential component of health, and good nutrition is preventative medicine.

You say that white rice turns into sugar..

Then how come Chinese and other Asian people who solely rely on white rice as their staple diet are a lot thinner than your potatoes/pasta eating American/European people?

For the same reason that these same potatoes/pasta eating people wouldn't have been fat 50 years ago: lifestyle and serving sizes.

White rice is not bad, though it's not the healthiest (I am about as far as it comes from being fad-diet-anti-carb). Potatoes aren't bad, but eating them in large quantities with little or no activity is.

That's what I've been taught. Same thing with drinking.

But look that the FTA. This thing is gonna spell doom for the Korean lifestyle concerning diet.

I see some kids trapped in fat bodies. This causes them a lot of anguish because of the importance of looking pretty and handsome in Korea. Once fat young it's very hard to get out of it. They're kids. They don't know how to eat well. And all the fast food is too available.
