Okay...I've signed the contract and returned it along with my transcripts to the school. At the time, I had not received a copy of my degree. I am still waiting on my passport - should be getting it in another week or two. Do I mail my degree to the school? I've read somewhere that I should go to the Korean Consulate and get it notarized and just send a notarized copy of my degree. If I do this, do I go TO the Consulate or mail it to them? Recruiter wants me to send the degree without waiting on my passport. So I send degree or copy of degree. What happens then? When I get my passport, do I have to go back to the Korean consulate? Can I mail any of this to the consulate? How do I know which consulate to go to? The closest one to me is Washington, DC but I don't have a clue how to get around there. The one closest to the school I graduated from is in Atlanta which I DO know how to get around.

1) Send a notarized copy. To find out, call the Consulate. They speak English.
2) Wait. Your recruiter will tell you what to do.
3) Yes, you can mail it to the consulate.
4) Use the consulate closest to your home. |

Relax...
your recruiter wants you to send your original degree so you can't find a better deal while you are waiting for your passport.
They can't submit anything to immigration without your passport information so it is all sitting on their desk.
Wait until you have everything.
Call the consulate for your region and ask what are THEIR requirements for the CERTIFICATION (not notarization) of the COPIES of you degree. Get more than one. 10 is a nice round number. You will need them for future positions if you decide to stay in Korea.
WHEN you have your passport and CERTIFIED copies of your degree, mail a COPY of your passport information page and your degree copy to the recruiter.
THEN they will go to immigration here and apply for your visa confirmation number.
When they get the number they will e-mail it back to you.
You can either mail, courier or take your passport, 2 passport type photos, the visa confirmation number and $60 to ANY Korean consulate to get your visa placed into your passport.
When you get your passport back with the visa in it you get on a plane and come on over. |
