You might get a better response if you don't put it in the travel forum.

Bring what you have but don't buy anything new for Korea- you can get decent custom tailored stuff for cheaper than what off the rack costs back home.

2 questions:
1) What kind of job are you coming for?
2) Why in the hell are you bringing so much stuff?!? Seriously, 1 suit will be more than I ever wore in korea, 2 pair of shoes (one dress one sport) will cover). Socks, underwear, soap, razors and all that are VERY common here, hell bath and body works are here if you are fancy. 20 bars of deoderant? How long are you staying? 15 years? Don't forget, you CAN buy that stuff here. Me, I don't use it, but it can be found. My tip is to cut that load into quarters, bring a bit more money for that harrowing first month, and find an e-mart or lotte mart near your new house.

Unless your job requires you to wear a suit or you're planning on taking in the symphony, opera, etc on a regular basis with a female dining companion, I'd say one suit will do you. Shoes. Hrm. That's a lot of shoes. Don't men need:

1 black dress
1 black casual
1 pair runners/sneakers
1 brown shoe casual

Double post...darn it.

The most important things I brought were a variety of American medications (Rx and OTC) and supplements. I brought a lot of clothes because of my size and fashion preferences and requirements. I wish I had brought more books, both professional and for personal reading.

Remind me not to take public transportation with you next summer.

My dress shoes use usually become worn within six-8 months. I know I will not be able to find my size there. I don't know, maybe one blac dress, one black casual, 2 pair running shoes ans a brown casual will suffice.....

As far as deoderant...I thought it was difficult to get good deoderant cheap in SK?

I don't know. I may just bring my Birkenstocks and wear them with socks in the winter...yeah, that's what I'll do.

You must have a Lonely Planet from 5 - 10 years ago or something. These days, it's easy to find deodorant and big shoes (unless your feet are some freakish size like 20).

I wear size 13 shoes, smaller than my buds back home, but friggin' huge by Korean standards and VERY hard to find, and usually not in the styles desired, especially with dress shoes and runners.

Do bring lots of shoes if you wear over size 11. And socks! One size does not fit all here.

But what I recommend bringing the most are SWEATERS and COATS because the styles and quality of those here are... well, ... AWFUL, to put it plainly.

Whats you job? You may not need suits or dress pants unless its a decent job.

Fair enough about the shoes. You can buy deoderant here though it can be more expensive than home..... depends on how much room youll have i your suitcase. Socks are certainly readily available, as are razors, soap, and sanitiser. Much cheaper here too and leaves more room to bring other stuff. If there are certain brands you just cant do without then bring them.
