And of course female posters like Alysia and Corporal never make a point of doing things like that, do they?

I'm not saying you're a biatch because I don't think you are, but like it or not, your sense of victimhood is irrelevant here. There are some female posters on Dave's I really like but even if there were no women I'd be perfectly happy if the women here I like were all men. In fact there was one who I thought was until I got an email from her with her name. Actually, at first I thought the OP was just 'a nice guy' when (s)he first started posting. In Korea, there are a few, mostly dumb, young, newbies who still feel a strong need for white women and will put on the dominant gorilla routine at Gecko's if that's what turns you on. However, the vast majority of us have no need for white women in our lives, and don't have to play up to PC-western double standards.

Most white women, however, still feel a strong need for white men, especially if they come here single. I know you're not like that but the vast majority are. Apart from the net there are exactly three white women in my life here in Korea and that'll be down to two by next week and one by the end of the year. With all the other white women in Korea, I don't go out of my way to be rude, but I have no reason to be nice if they're disagreeable because I really don't give a damn about what they or any of their friends think. Apart from the three white women I know, whom I like but am not really close to, there's neither a need nor point in paying any attention to what white women like or consider important or interesting, as opposed to K-girls where there sure is. This is what I think really frustrates female ex-pat society over here. They, unlike K-girls, have no control over the attitude of almost all male long-termers except perhaps a compliant bf if they're lucky enough to have one. Most of us guys might fall for the right white chick if she came along but are just as happy to stick to making fun of white women when we're bored. I'd be happy going out for a pint or six with Axl and telling everyone here I did so because I don't care if he's rude to white women and I don't care what white women or silly PC men think about him and me by association.

What I find funny about the idea of a 'women's forum' is that it (a) would contain the exact proportion of utter morons and sociopaths as this forum currently does and (b) as a political statement it would be pointless because most white guys here don't care.

That's a rather long post for someone who doesn't care!

So it's ok to be offensive, because you don't care what white women think? I try to be a kind person, so I don't write offensive things. Not everyone lives by that code, though, and this board draws a fine line. Anyway, I'd respond to a couple of your points, but I don't think there's a point, because it won't do any good, will it? It's just best to avoid specific posters in the future. I can only hope that your attitude isn't indicative of the majority of the male posters on this board. If so, then I certainly don't belong here. Anyway, that's it, because arguing with people I don't know is pretty pointless, I've come to realize. (Long time coming Rolling Eyes )

Just my 2 cents: Alyssa is a sock, and Corporal is hilarious. This board needs more dry wit, IMO.

The problem with a women's only forum is how could we ensure that only women posted on it?

If there was a men's only forum, I'd get myself a sock, call it Mr_Grubby and sneak over there to see what I could see.

I'm sure flotsam and otis would soon be congregating at the women's forum aka Miss_Piggy and Sarah_Lee_Fudgepacker.

i'm not exactly advocating a 'women's only' forum, but a forum on women's issues... i think the individual applicants should be screened in some way and should be able to be kicked out if his/her comments are deemed inappropriate.

that's my basic idea, but i'm not sure about the logistics or if there would be any support from moderators, other users, etc.

Sometimes it's very uncomfortable, like when I'm lying on my back in a certain way...but you seem to be in more discomfort than me. I'm really starting to notice how difficult it is to walk for long periods though...and I find it hard to keep up with my toddler when he is running outside. I generally make sure my husband or mother is around now when I take him out...and not so nimble now. 8 or 9 more weeks and hurrah - my body will belong only to me!

She nailed you there. Laughing

Yes, it was Friday afternoon, and I was bored at work. But really, if you start a 'women's' forum, unless you have a way of IDing posters, you will be sure to attract the attention and input of the men who do care but not in a good way.

I'm just saying that a sense of white women's victimhood is pretty irrelevant here. Does anyone in Canada care about Korean men's sense of victimhood because many female Korean ex-pats don't, with the exception of a few personal friends, give a flip about them?

You know this board does have a usergroup feature, right?!!

FAQ wrote:
What are Usergroups?
Usergroups are a way in which board administrators can group users. Each user can belong to several groups (this differs from most other boards) and each group can be assigned individual access rights. This makes it easy for administrators to set up several users as moderators of a forum, or to give them access to a private forum, etc.

How do I join a Usergroup?
To join a usergroup click the usergroup link on the page header (dependent on template design) and you can then view all usergroups. Not all groups are open access -- some are closed and some may even have hidden memberships. If the board is open then you can request to join it by clicking the appropriate button. The user group moderator will need to approve your request; they may ask why you want to join the group. Please do not pester a group moderator if they turn your request down -- they will have their reasons.

How do I become a Usergroup Moderator?
Usergroups are initially created by the board administrator who also assigns a board moderator. If you are interested in creating a usergroup then your first point of contact should be the administrator, so try dropping them a private message.

*sigh*

Sounds good to me. The Usergroup feature suggested by Delirium's Brother sounds like it might work.

Call your usergroup, the "Dave's Ladies Lunch Group". Make sure that all your users attend at least one Ladies Lunch before being given access. I think that you'll be able to tell the posters with the `girl parts' from those with the `boy parts' pretty easily that way.

That might be a problem for those of us who will not be living near Seoul. I will be on Jeju Island, but I promise I have the right parts.

I'm sure there is at least one person who will attend that can vouch for you. Then there's always the telephone. Or you could make the effort and attend one of the lunches yourself. Are you never going to leave Jeju for the remainder of your contract? There are all sorts of ways of verifying a person's real identity/gender/etc. I'll let you use your imagination to figure it out.
