|
|
| I was wondering if anyone has had their wisdom teeth pulled in Korea. Mine are still under the gums (with the exception of one) but my employer tells me that any old regular dentist can perform the surgery. She also quoted 50,000 W per tooth. Back home it's around 1500$ for a set of 4 and around 500$ per tooth. Does this sound really insane? What about anaesthetic? Can anyone help me? I'm in a lot of pain and this is going to have to happen soon... but I don't want to be "unresearched". Is that a word? |

I had my wisdom teeth pulled last year and it cost 20k for all four, however it was a simple case of just ripping the buggers out (I had a big injection)
Dental care in Korea varies greatly in terms of cost and quality. If yuo are in Seoul I can recommend a good, reasonably priced dentist. |

I did it in Canada but was insured so I didn't pay anything, but I got an IV of some beautiful opiates, man I see why people shoot herion, good times.
Sorry I can't offer any help in Korea but whenever I hear "wisdom teeth" I think back to that awesome afternoon in the hospital, bitchin! |

WY Dentistry in Gangnam (Hak dong station)
The place is always full of expats, and the dentist - Wonhi Yoo - trained in New York. He's good and does just about every kind of dental work imaginable. They're open on most weekends too.

Rhee Jong Hun at the Ye Dental Clinic. It's near Janghanpyeong Station on line, exit 5. When you come out, turn right, and walk along the busy street. It's a block away, right at the corner on the 4th floor. There's a clothing place on the first floor of the building.
Staff don't speak much english but he does. Despite the industrial nature of the area a number of foreign teachers have gone to him and all have been more than statisfied with his work and you aren't paying 'expat price.'
He's open on saturday mornings. |

I don't know about wisdom teeth, but I've been having a complicated procedure done at KIM AND LEE SEOUL DENTAL CLINIC in Sanbon and am very happy with them. The staff doesn't seem to speak much English, but Dr. Lee's English is excellent. He's very gentle and will take time to answer questions. I've had five appointments so far, xrays, two weeks of prescription medications, a partial root canal, and some other work and have paid a grand total of W29,500.
Directions:
Take the subway to Sanbon (blue line, Line 4)
Take either exit from the subway station (they go to the same place)
Walk down the ramp to the center of Sanbon
Keep walking past the fountain (right now it has a big Christmas tree on it) until you're standing with Emart on your right and Today Mall on your left.
Go into Today Mall and up to the 4th floor.
Kim and Lee Seoul Dental Clinic is in the back right-hand corner of the 4th floor.
They're open weekdays 10-7 and Saturdays 10-4.
Tel: 031-343-2875
PM me if you need better directions or more information. |

| has anyone had braces put on or brace work done in Korea. I've always known that I should have them but I just can't afford to have it done in the states. With the prices everyone is mentioning I might finally be able to afford to do what needs to be done for my teeth. |

| Take care, not al things are cheap. I had a couple of gold teeth put in , and that cost over a million. The work is cheap, but extra parts can be costly. |

| "Gold teeth" you mean like fillings? Or like replacement teeth made of gold? |

| Like full on rapper style bling. The korean cure if you let a cavity go on so long that you need a root canal. |

Meh, the bling is in the back over two molars. So, it really can't be seen unless I really smile. That said, I can't help if I'm gangsta.
PS. I really have no idea what they will think, I haven't been back to the US in almost 5 years. I'm currently in hell- er, Jakarta, Indonesia. |

ah here's another couple of questions regarding dentistry in Korea....
1) How long does it take for the procedures?
2) How good is the aftercare? Say for the root canals or teeth removal?
3) Do any of the dentists that speak English use gas instead of novacaine? I have a problem with needles and would prefer to be under during the procedures than coherent during it.
4) Is any of this covered by the national healthcare we pay into or is that only for medical? |
