Does anyone believe that in the future cultural, racist, nationalistic, geographical and linguistic barriers will become so broken that the human race will merge and mingle into a unified entity, the so-called pinko-gray cosmopolitain 'race"?
Its a nice Idea and I like the idea of cultures merging. However..can you see it? I can't. I think that it has had long enough to hapen already and it clearly hasn't. If you think about it..the world has already seen plenty of expansive civilisations that assimilated many cultures..however the tendency was always toward regional divergence.
in the future..I see an ever greatening divide between rich and poor nations: the result will be that some fall into helpless poverty, a "4th world" while the most economically powerful form a sort of unified entity. Humanity may split into an elite and an underclass:

On the contrary, it has happened already no? We're all hybrids, bar a few remote amazonian tribes. |

But still (mostly) with distinctly different regional appearances, languages and customs. People entering a large racially different gene pool have simply been bred out. For example..if there were no more immigration into the UK for the next 2-300 years, by that time everyone there would be white.
I supose the best example of a melting pot would be somewhere like Brazil, or Venezuela.
