Red Dog, you boggle me. It's something you do, that you've done twice in this thread and once in the thread about moral codes. That is, when someone makes a broad statement that could apply to any of the nutjobs who post on Dave's, you quote it and agree with it. After that is where I get confused. Are you:

a) Agreeing that you are in fact one of those nutjobs who should be handled with caution, or

b) Assuming the statements made couldn't possibly pertain to you

Thanks.

And complaining- you forgot about the complaining.

Seriously, it's been like this for years, sometimes better but often as not a lot worse.

When I navigate away from daves nothing happens, I don't go up or down, it's like it never happened, the impact is minimal. I liken it to mental chewing gum, slightly above the level of watching tv. It's not exactly good for you, but it does no harm either...

In my first year in Korea I had a really hard time for a couple months and I found that the negativity on the boards only made me feel worse. I took a break and focused on the positive aspects of Korea and soon came out of my slump. Now I only come here for short periods or to ask for help. Avoiding the current events discussion in particular goes a long way in maintaining my sanity.

Also every time I write something here I feel like I have to write it perfectly in fear of being attacked, whether for grammar, writing style, morality, fact-checking, or whatever else. I'm on many message boards and none of them makes me so nervous to post on as this one.

Exactamundo.
I don't understand the types who would let what amounts to a "chat" site rile them up or make them depressed...or have any affect on their mood or thoughts whatsoever.

i feel worse when i see the hateful, rude, and "holier-than-thou" posts that are made on this forum. Even when it's not directed towards me.

this place is a useful source for information however. like good places to eat, nice bars, where to buy stuff etc.

When I want info, I come here. When I want to interact with like-minded folks, I go elsewhere. Unfortunately there is just too much valuable info and insight to be gained here to stop checking in.

Sure, but it's all of the expat sites that make me lose my faith in humanity.
It's just the way of the Korean expat.

But the main appeal of this place is the high turn-over of information, and you can actually enjoy watching problem users get the boot.

I know the statements in this thread don't pertain to me. If you think they do, that's your problem. I don't know which post in the morality thread you're referring to.

Now now, your statement could be mistinterpreted that I got the perma-boot at some point. Despite what a couple of clowns claim, it's never happened.

But, you're right. The cycle will probably start again once some idiot (more likely the same idiots as always) gets it into his head that I'm his greatest enemy ever and puts in a great deal of effort to crawl up my ass until I leave in annoyance.

Then again, so what? This isn't the mob. You can come and go as you please.
