Just reading he forum a bit and the issue of "money shots" came into play.

Was just wondering what some of the classic "money shots" are.

What comes to my mind was when poor Bob Dole fell off a podium during the '96 election.

Man, did he get skewered.

Not that I think "money shots" have had much influence on politics overall; statements are far more haunting (see Al Gore and Love Story/The Internet). Rather, Dole torpedoed his own boat when he suggested that the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn.

It's still a bit sad to see that even statements like that can ruin an election, but, hey, that's how sophisticated we are at the moment.

Anyway, what other "money shots" are there? What effect did they have?

I can think of some serious ones and some flippant ones, but I'd like to see what others come up with.

"i am not a crook"

"i did not have sexual relations with that woman"

Well, when I read the phrase 'money shots' I was thinking of something else, but I guess the term has a wider meaning now!

Famous gaffes I can think of? The one that comes to my mind is Gerald Ford missing a football that someone threw him. That photograph gave him a lifetime of jokes for being a klutz.
