For another view of the comings of Muslims to N. American communities, here's a NY Times article about a new CBC program. One point I like in it is that comedy shows like this have been ways in the past to lead to greater integration of minority groups into communities.

I read this , this morning and was just about to post. I find it appropriate given today's climate, to point out more and more that the Muslim community is engaging in their own dialogue and their religion is becoming more and more reflective of the cultures in which they live. This is an inevitable thing -- religions change as they meet larger cultures.
This is something many who just want to see Muslims as a static, fossilized , homogenous mass, just don't get.

Cool.
Seems to be a take off of "Little Britain".

Perhaps the quickest route to an honest answer would be to ask a Muslim woman. |

I don't think they are allowed by Muslim tradition to participate in this forum.

You could ask my wife, mother in law or sisters in law, cousins, aunts and nieces who all use the internet. Then again, why they would bother responding to the likes of you would be beyond me. They do, however, use internet forums. Kind of makes your argument redundant, does it not? |

Wasn't an arguement was a thought. You are allowed to correct my thinking and I will thank you dor it.
Problem is too many Islamofascist defenders refuse to answer the simple questions when asked:
Is the scarf oppressive?
Certainly seems to symbolize it.
Should women be beaten when they don't wear the scarf?
Why do you feel insulted by these questions?
Why am I insulted for asking?
Would you ban a person from your Mosque if he spoke badly of Osama Bin Laden?
These are question that Moslem here on this forum have refused to answer.
The Koran speaks to equality of men and women very often yet the traditions of the scarf are so very contrary.

It might just be that you've done more than ask questions. |

Other than question what have I done?
I haven't flown any planes into any buildings nor have I bombed any buses or markets.
I have not wished any world leaders dead.
I have tested no nukes.

alas, only one muslim nation has tested nukes.
I've wished a few world leaders to be dead, I'll be honest with you. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be happy if a man like Robert Mugabe died. I know many Americans viewed the Ayatollah Khomeini as pure evil (and certainly a # had no qualms about going after Saddam).
Buses and markets.. that, sadly, is not something restricted to muslims by any means.

Depends on circumstances.

Nope, and many Muslims agree with me.

You take one example of this happening and equate it to a billion people and millions of mosques. Talk about generalization to the extreme.

Thank you kindly for taking the time for answering my questions.
I appreciate your open and honest and refreshing candor in stating facts and thoughts without ridicule.
I truly do Apologize if any of my statesments and/or questions were offensive to anyone perticipating in this discussion.
I will in the future phrase my question more carefully so as not to infringe upon the sensibilies of others.
My goal in discussing these issues is in part to learn about things that I may know little or nothing about, so enlighten me.
