I just got home from a meeting with an editor at the Korea Herald. We will sign a publishing contract on Monday. The excitement is about to make me pee my pants.
A key to their interest in publishing was the number of wonderful responses so many of you posted. I want to say a big THANK YOU again for all your support.
Were planning on contacting writing teachers to ask them to bring the column to their students attention and (we hope) urge them to submit their own stories. (Teachers and schools would be acknowledged in the paperwhich shouldnt hurt at contract negotiation time.)
I should be thinking of a name for the column (to appear every Wednesday starting in January) since all the stories wont be by ajosshis if things go according to plan and dreams, but of course Im having a brain freeze. Any suggestions would be welcomed. At the moment, all I can think about is whether I want MY real name used.
What do you think of:
&*^%())$%&*()()_)_###@ (New Column name)

Doesn't that sound duly editorial?

Congratulations, I am excited for you even though I was disappointed not to see another story. How about "Inside the Heart of Koreans"? |

I can't offer any suggestions, but I just want to say: congratulations!
I'm also curious why you don't want to use your real name...? |

Good question. I guess it's the loss of anonymity. I'm not really sure.
In my last brush with fame and fortune , the middle school put up a banner on main street with my name on it for every Kim, Lee and Park to see. But I doubt as many people saw it in two weeks as will see it in the KH in one day (that's how small that town was). Move over, Thomas Friedman (as Alyssa would have said if she had any wit).

If things go 'right' in January, you should start to see some new stories soon after. |

what sucks is that "alyssa" appeared to me as your average canadian pontoon-thighed moron. if you search her posts, you'll find that she's actually a british man, with a brilliant troll idea, waiting for gullible dudes like me to pretend they're sharp by shouting her down.
i have a theory that alyssa's real name is "mark". |

This thread is a good example of how annoying trolls are. They want attention and often manage to get it by derailing threads. This thread is now about a troll. Thanks a lot. |
