Hoobastank will perform on Jan. 25 at the Melon-AX Hall in Kwangjang-dong, eastern Seoul. The concert is part of the group�s world tour, which will take them to Guam, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore and Australia next year.
This will be the second time Hoobastank has performed in Seoul. The group first performed in Seoul in 2004, when they participated in the international rock festival ETPFest. ETPFest, which was organized by Seo Taiji, was held at Korea's Jamsil Olympic Stadium and also featured the groups Zebrahead, Pe'z (Japan), and Pia (Korea).
Hoobastank was formed in the Los Angeles suburb of Agora Hills in 1994 and is currently composed of vocalist Doug Robb, guitarist Dan Estrin, drummer Chris Hesse and bassist Markku Lappalainen. The group is known for its modern rock sound, influenced by the grunge movement in the early 1990s.
Hoobastank released their debut album, which included ``Crawling in the Dark,� in 2002.
The band�s popularity soared with the release of their sophomore album ``The Reason.�� The album�s title track, ``The Reason,�� was released in the first half of 2004 and topped the U.S. charts. It eventually became a monster hit around the world, including Korea.
Hoobastank was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 2005, including song of the year for ``The Reason.��
Last May, Hoobastank released their latest album ``Every Man for Himself,�� which includes ``Inside of You,�� ``If I Were You,�� ``If Only�� and ``More Than a Memory.��
