My apartment is pretty bare and I'm desperate to buy a bedside table and a cheap sofa-bed, just so I've got something to lounge around on. Sitting on my bed all the time isn't much fun.
As a relatively new arrival in Korea, I don't have much of a clue about these sorts of things.
Can anybody suggest any stores that would sell what I'm after and possibly suggest what sort of prices I'd be looking at paying?

| Korean furniture is, by and large, ugly and expensive. Save yourself some money and get some ugly second-hand stuff. Check out the Buy/Sell forum if you haven't already. |

| From my experience most of the furniture in Korea is freakin' garbage. I got a table in my place that I bought about 3 months ago that's already got the goddarned paint coming off of it. Granted, I only paid about 60 bucks for the thing...( I know...cheap azz) |

Keep your eyes on the streets. You can actually find some decent furniture on the curbside. I have picked-up a sofa and a few tables in the past and all were in pretty good condition.
If you want to buy a sofa/bed. I recommend just buying a small matress and some big pillows. Put the matress on the floor and pile on a bunch of pillows. My wife and I did that and we both liked it alot. Cheap, comfortable and convenient. |

It's not really easy to recommend a specific store in Korea because a) there are no addresses and b) the same stores exist in pretty much every neighborhood.
Basically what you need to do is find a used furniture store. I got my desk, which has a giant surface and is very good quality, my rolling leather chair, and my 6-foot-tall bookshelf from a used store down the street. Paid less than 100k for all of it.
Just ask your boss or someone who knows your neighborhood well to tell you where a used furniture store in the area is. |
