| P.S. In fairness to the veggies, I've never once seen a meat thread get hijacked by a veggie. Dogmeat threads get hijacked by veggies and non-veggies however, and veggie threads get hijacked by flesh-eaters. Veggies often come across the more reasonable parties on my beloved Daves. |

I've seen both reddog and rteacher hijack. Hence I posted that. |

I'll bet my mock hijack/rant didn't have you fooled for even a second, right?

Same goes for Carne Station, EFLtrainer.
Whilst CS is outstanding for a right, royal piss-up and feast, in terms of quality of the flesh on offer, it’s scraping the barrel.
CS’s meat is frozen, thus tasteless. |
Not only was ("was", as I'm not much of a carnivore anymore) their meat generally tasteless, I didn't care much for arm-wrestling the phalanx of ajummas who hover over the food trough, vulture-like, waiting to pounce on the fresh platter of whatever decent meat there was. I swear, some of those hausfrauen looked like they were about to mug the serving kid when he brought out the goods. And forget about taking turns -- they'd snag the tongs from other platters so they could devour the good stuff "awll-toogedderrr!" in the countrypeople's fashion. So if you're the fifth to the platter, there's almost nothing left because the Koreans (and it was always ajummas) who muscled their way in front of you each carted off 1/4 of the platter of LA galbi or deungshim or whatever. Now I realise some observers will say this behaviour is unique to Carne Station and does not reflect badly on the nation as a whole. But I'm of a very different opinion on the matter.
Oh yes, and as Carne Station is probably the only place many of them have ever eaten lamb, I can easily see why Koreans consider it such a bizarre, unappetising dish. |

I took a while for me to get used to lamb, but it's now one of my favorite meats (buffalo/bison is by far my favorite).
I had a chat with a couple of Uzbeks (they were the janitors at a TV studio where my son did some work in front of the camera) and they ate lamb every chance they got. They could tell they were making me jealous. To rub it in, they pointed out that since it was ramadan, they didn't eat a lot of Korean food because the cafeteria closed too early for them. |

| I like the meat at Ipanema. If there's a place with better meat for the same price, I'm all ears. |

| While I was having 돼지갈비 for lunch today I was thinking that maybe I should have gone to Black Angus (not that the 돼지갈지 was bad, just that I was getting contemplative) and then I figured I should post about Black Angus here -- it's expensive but it serves an excellent filet mignon and, although it doesn't contain meat, the chocolate cake is frigging great. |

I went to Ipanema a few years ago and thought the meat was fine(other than the chicken hearts-rubbery little things).
I certainly think I've lost track of what good,well-cooked meat tastes like.Korean meat is too thinly cut and ajummas are always trying to get me to cook it all at once.P-off already I often have a running fight at restaurants with ajummas putting it on the grill and me taking it off.Telling them in Korean that I want to cook as I go doesn't seem to go down well.Hurry,hurry...eat,eat....go,go...
Hence...the attraction of the Brazilian set-up.Thick meats,no ajummas involved.
Bundang has a newish Brazilian restaurant-Viva Brasilia.Anyone been? |

|
|
So Jay Leno hadn't eaten a vegetable in 37 years and today he had his first veggie, broccoli, after a class of elementary students sent him some letters. the clip was very funny. Hope it shows up on YouTube soon.
Anyhow Jay is a real carnivore... or at least he was... |
