Hi. I have an ibookG4 and unfortunately, I'm a bit of a computer neanderthol. I can't seem to open any Youtube videos and also other problems. Any kind souls with some free time that can give me advice?
The forums I looked at were annoying, had to sign up, probably aren't familiar with technical issues in Korea etc. And the only Mac store I now know of, 2 hours away, has a very kind, but completely clueless assistant that seems to know less than me.
Anyway, worth a try...I only have a couple of questions at the mo. |

I know nothin about MACs.
My only advice would be...
Buy a PC.

Don't buy a PC, stick with Mac.
I use Firefox and have no problem.
Sometime, youtube.com is on the fritz. There are days when videos won't play and it has nothing to do with your computer.
One great forum for Mac question is on apple.com. The people there get "points" for answering your mac questions, so they are eager to help. Yes, you have to sign up, but it is very fast and free. |

I can view YouTube on Safari with no problem. So I think neither the iBook nor the browser is the actual problem. Sorry, I can't help any more than that, but may help eliminate two variables. |

Definitely go with Firefox, there is a new version out. You may need to uninstall your flash player, then reinstall it. www.adobe.com
safari is a good browser, but the new version of it requires 30 gigs of free hard drive space. WTF?
good luck. |

I'm using Safari 2.0.4 and youtube plays just fine. I'm sure us mac folks would be happy to help out, but you're being very vague with the difficulties. Have you tried Firefox and did that fix it? Where your problems only browser/internet surfing related? Need to give us some details.
And do indeed check out Apple's support page. It's broken down in to very distinct catagories so you can find the best place to ask your question.

True, I was anticipating to communicate through pm's so as not to keep the thread alive for too long..
Anyway, thanks for your comments~
I'm also using Safari 2.0.4. Actually, UTube worked fine up until last week (I don't use it much, in fact only twice) and now I can select a vid. but only the title appears. There is no video! It's really frustrating, because there is a hyperlink symbol that is where the video window should be, but that just sends me to a 'google advertisement' page~ sounds like a virus doesn't it? If so, it will be the first virus I've ever had on a MAC
But I don't know...
So I'll download with the Firefox thing now... |
