Actually, it is fairly old. Fromkin, Hyams, and Rodman state that as long as you have the first letter and the last letter in the correct place in the word, then it will be farily easy to decipher, that is, if you cannot speed read through it already (2005).

You sure of that publication date, cubanlord? All I can find is Introduction to Language (7th Ed.) with a 2002 publication date, and 8th ed. with a 2007 publication date. That's why, if you're going to use APA citations, it's nice to put the full names of the works you're referencing at the end of your writing.
