i had an idiot coworker who'd call in sick for hangovers all the time. i always thought that was a terrible way to treat an employer. |

Last month I took my first sick day in 15 months. Both my co-teacher and my principle called my home to check up on me. They said they called because they were concerned about me..........yea, right. They called to check up on me. I found it hugely disappointing that they would do that after going as long as I had without a day off. Also, I've worked my butt off on this job. That's one of those times when I ask myself,"I wonder if they would do that to a Korean teacher?" Anyway, I guess it takes a long time to earn their trust. So be it. |

Not only would they do that...they will tell her to move her ass to work..
The only way a Korean will have a sickie here is if he/she is in a hospital bed... |

Tish-tosh.
Korean teachers DO take days off .I took a co-teacher drinking and he had too much, felt too frail the next day and went home at lunchtime.
Lets not forget how they nap at school and the long summer and winter holiday which gives ample time to build themselves up. |

16 months on this job and never taken a sick day. At my old hogwan the other foreigers and I started taking turns calling in sick on the busiest day of the week.
When I was in Canada this summer my sister took a sick day because her dog was sick. Koreans have a hard time believing that one. |

I don't think I've ever taken a sick day, in 11 years.
Added after thinking more: I did take a couple of hours off several times after surgery to go in for 'after service'. So my record isn't spotless.

Ya-ta Boy beats me - I've had one sick day in 4 years, but I had pneumonia so I only felt a little guilty. |

Took one last week for a cold.
That leaves me with 13 left before May. I suspect I will be sick on Fridays or mondays. |

I haven't taken a sick day in like 5 years here, though I did try to take one and they wouldn't let me. Had drank too much the night before anyway.
I do take days off occasionally using my vacation days, though. I just don't consider headaches or a slight sniffle or a runny nose as grounds to stay home. |

My father never took a sick day in 41 years of work.
I decided not to try and top that.
3 days in 4 years here. |

I've never taken a sick day in my life (well, not from work -- I used it as an excuse not to go to school once or twice when I was younger). |

14 sick days allowed in a year. It seems silly not to take at least half of them.
Lets see..my full total is 33 sick days in 4 years. Give or take a day. |

If my herpes starts acting up....well I think Mr. Kim will have to deal without whitey ford for one day. Good God could you imagine the children seeing the swelled up lips coupled with the already gargantuan trademark white man's nose. That image would follow them for the rest of their days. |
