All of this is hyperbole- self promotion. Deep down they know it isn't reality, but they feel like if they promote it enough, then people will start to believe. That will help make it so.

And how is this different from most of the businesses in the world?

And I find the Korean alphabet very rational myself.

A business or country will exaggerate a quality that it does actually possess. Korea is tauting qualities that it doesn`t even come close to possessing.

Hangeul is rational, but the claim is that it`s the "envy" of people around the world. Clearly it is not, as most people haven`t even heard of it. This is just another one of those empty claims that no one except Koreans actually care about. I love hangeul myself, but anyone who does not have a reason to use it is simply not going to know or care. And needing to talk about your alphabet, of all things, to nationalistically pump yourself up is a sure sign of desperation. It`s completely insignificant in terms of whether a country is a modern dynamic tourist and business hub. The English language and alphabet is a hopeless mess of multiple influences, yet we seem to do alright on the tourism and business front...

Yes indeed.

If Hangeul and Kimchi are evidence of Korea's international acclaim, then I sympathize with any proponent of this view.

And I'm saying this to be kind, as Korea's number one fan!

Peeps, give it a freakin rest already.
