I just read a post implying you could apply before having all paperwork ready?

Is this true? I am waiting on passport.

You can do everything except apply for your visa confirmation number - which means NOTHING gets done without your passport. It all just sits on someone's desk while it waits.

If your school or recruiter wants everything BEFORE they get the scan of your passport they are just trying to make sure you can't/don't find a better deal while you are waiting.

If they have your documents you can't apply elsewhere and they know it.

It is a sign of desperation by someone.

Why can't I apply elsewhere? I had planned on sending several sets of paperwork.

How many embassy certified copies or originals of your degree do you have?

A formal application requires:

Either your original or a Korean embassy certified copy of your degree.
University sealed, official transcripts.
Scan of your passport.

+ (these they can just print off)
resume and passport type photos.

Without these it is nothing and you are blowing hot air.

I have no paperwork together yet. I can get as many copies of whatever I need. If I have no paperwork (I could quickly scan resume, my original degree, and photos. Must wait for all else.) can I begin the process with them?

Should I just wait?

Send your scans off to the recruiters and schools. Nothing means anything till they get the hardcopies of your documents and submit them to immigration.

Even a contract is not worth the paper it is printed on until you have your E2.

Apply away.

And while you are at it... it might be in your best interests to peruse the FAQs.
