What is the fine for getting deported for doing privates?

I know you have to pay your own air fare home, but this is strictly for research purposes, and I'm curious what the fine is....

Thanks

There are lots of previous threads about this subject.

The fine differs case to case. Many people say 2 million won, but others get off easier. I hear you may be held until you pay it.

Your employer is notified and can fire you for it, then you must leave the country in two weeks on your own dime, or pay a fine when you leave the country if you leave after 2 weeks time.

You are subject to a fine of UP TO 5 million won AND the cost of your transportation out of the country.

If you cannot pay the fine you will remain in detention until you do.
If you cannot pay the airfare you will remain in detention until you can make arrangements to do so.

Tom is spot on.

Ad to that that they can seize money in your Korean bank account as it can be deemed illegal revenue....

The fine can be higher than 5 million won if there are other issues.

For example people teaching on fake credentials.

The fine would be based on the severity of the offense and circumstances.

Enough for your "research" Darkness?

Very good.

Now go and roll the dice with the privates you have been wanting to do.

Best of luck and at least now you know the risk and consequences should your butt get snapped up by immigration.

How does a person get busted doing privates? cops kicking in the door while you're doing a language lesson and money changing hands? Mole wearing a wire?

Play it smart.
