So I would like to buy some new bras here, but I'm not sure how the sizing works. I was in E-mart the other day, and every single bra they had seemed to be an A cup, sizes like 85A, 90A, etc.
What are the equivalencies to American bra sizes? I'm a 36B, so I don't think I should have a hard time finding bras here, but I really don't know how the sizing works! |

| It's common knowledge that when guys talk about the equivalent, they exaggerate by an average of 1 1/2 inches. Are women the same? |

No, they tend to "err" on the small side of things. |

All metro dudes should know that there is nothing worse than wearing a bra that doesnt fit. It will be uncomfortable, it can cause bulges where theyre not wanted, or creasing in the cups, along with various other problems. Yet many women still wear the wrong size. One of the commonest problems is wearing a bra with a back size that is too big with a cup size too small. The result? The back of the bra rides up, and you spill out over the cups. Definitely not comfortable! |

Among which is that pressure marks are so unsightly. That's one of my big complaints. |

| What I can't figure out about this place is why every bra over an A cup has to be an uglier color or pattern..... |

Good question. Why do they punish the ample?
I don't want an ajumma bra, so once I went to a lingerie shop around Hooker Hill (cleverly titled "Ringerie") That randy old granny laughed me out of the store.

they have nice bras...the sales girls will even fit you...they had up to an H cup there, and very nice designs...nothing grandma-ish at all! |

I would never even try to buy a bra in Korea. I just bought mine over the internet...and prayed they'd fit! I got mine sent from London.
The ajummas in the shops are bit cheeky too. I tried on a sweater and the ajumma was fussing about my bosom...gesturing wildly to the other ajumma...and running her hands all over it! Well what next...? I think I would have thought twice about buying a pair of shorts from her! |

FYI, a co-worker of mine oders off Victoria's Secret on-line. She's Canadian and presumably uses a Canadian credit card. You want to get an order of around $100 USD and they will deliver to Korea in 10 days for $20 USD.
Expensive, but if you buy the sale stuff you can find some great deals and maye make it worth it. |

I did that once but Customs stopped it. They called my house at Chuseok and told me my $120 in bras would incur $200 in customs fees. Apparently because it was new in the manufacturer's box I had to pay duties on it. I told them to return it. Bought the same stuff online and had my Mom ship it to me in a different box - no charges!
But yeah, Korean bras come in small, smaller, and why bother? And they're atrocious. |

Measuring the equiv. between US and Korean bra sizes won't help you. All bras here are padded to the max. Have you been to a sauna? You'll note that many women have nothing on their chests.
I remember one of my Korean friends saying that ample-chested women tend to be dumb. Thanks for the compliment.
I go to London to get mine. |
