Has anyone here ever eaten at the restaurant inside Seoul Tower? I read that the restaurant chaged recently and the new one is runned by VIPs steakhouse.

Is the food good?
Expensive?

Well, if the food is not good, then the whole place is not good. I love great views, but when I'm hungry, I coould care less about paying for the view. Great food and great view...even nicer.

I went into the VIPS-managed restaurant for a drink. A beer, a KOREAN beer, was 9000 won. Coffee was 12,000. I didn't even want to look at the food prices. We left, went down one floor to the "snack bar" area, and had a Heinekens for 5,000 won each.

Welcome to Korea, the land of over-priced imports. The land of conspicuous consumption. The land where if something doesn't sell, just make it more expensive. The sheep will buy.

the sad part is, this is so true. jack the price up and just say "foreign."

example... Levi's jeans. in Seoul they average 180,000 won atleast. i ordered some online from the american sight. had them sent to my brother who mailed them to me. they were on sail, so for the same 180,000, i got four pairs and my girlfriend got one. she (is Korean) is still convinced the qualilty is better in Korea because they are more expensive. I even tried explaining, why would an American company send the better quality to some country on the other side of the world and sell the junk at home to the richest country in the world? I explained how Koreans will overpay for image so much, but she still is convinced the expenive ones in Seoul are better.

sometimes i want to bash my head into a wall.

That's ridiculous for plain old Levi's. I never even bought Levi's in the US, so I sure wouldn't buy them here. Expensive does not ALWAYS mean better, but sometimes it does. I once spent $78 for Kenneth Cole shoes, only to have a big hole in the bottom of one of them after 6 months. I had some $10 shoes one time that lasted 2 years. I told a korean girl this one time, and she couldn't believe it.

I am beginning to think that many Koreans are really dumb - especially when they believe things like this without any proof. I had an ajjoshi try to tell me that the viagra sold in America is better than the product sold in Korea.

I seriously don't see how this can be true. Drugs are drugs. The dosage on the other hand might be higher in America to be effective in heavier men.

Then there's stuff like fan death, dog soup is a sexual stimulant for men, kimchi prevents bird flu and SARS....

I strongly advise against eating outside the restaurant in Seoul Tower.

I heard that they've renamed the recently renamed Seoul Tower to Seoul N-Tower.
