I graduated with a BA a few days ago and plan to take a job teaching in Korea next March when the new semester starts in public schools. The problem is, I won't get my physical diploma mailed to me until mid-January. Is their anyway I can apply to a recruiter without actually having a diploma yet? I want to get an application in early before all the public school jobs are gone. Will mid-January be too late for that?

Any advice appreciated.

You should be OK.

I think I'd start contacting schools and/or recruiters now and begin the process. Just state up-front that your diploma will be issued in a couple of weeks.

You won't be able to finalize any offers until the diploma is available, but that is only a month away. Right now schools are winding up their school year and administrators/teachers who do the hiring are swamped with end-of-year testing, grading and other paper work.

You should also know that many work places post an ad and then wait till the end of their month to do anything with the applications. It can be highly frustrating.

Good luck.

I was in the same boat with my first job. I ddin't have the physical diploma in hand when I did the application process. I went to my school and got a degree verification form that showed I was granted the degree, the date it was given, and in what field.

I then took that to the notary and the consulate to be certified. At the time they accepted that but I don't know if immi will accept it now. You can ask your recruiter/local consulate if they will accept it.
