The reasons Native Speakers are not hired at Jong I Jo Language Institute

1. Most are only short-term visitors and, therefore, lack a sense of responsibility and duty.

2. They have no concept of teaching and, therefore, have absolutely no sense of duty or professionalism.

3. They are untrained in education.

4. They are absolutely not high-quality personnel (most graduate from no-name technical schools and 2-year colleges.

5. It is impossible to check what kinds of people they are or what their characters are (ex. drug user, homosexual, convict, AIDS patient, sex offender).

6. They only just barely teach their classes and do not invest any time in managing students.

7. They have no burning passion for the students.

8. They do not agonize at all over improving the students skills.

9. Legitimate native speakers are rare.

10. It is impossible for parents to easily consult with them anytime they want.

* I want to specify that the above applies to only some foreigners.

Funny, but with the exception of number 10, all of those could have applied to the K-teachers I worked with at kiddie hogwons.

Short-term visitors? At the kiddie hogwons I worked at, my Korean co-workers pretty much all had shorter shelf-lives than I did. I stuck out my year, they should have installed a revolving door for the K-teachers.

Virtually none of them had any formal training in English, or seemed to view English teaching as a permanent career.

And is Wonderland now doing background checks on their K-teachers? Didn't think so.

For their own sake - because stupidity like that cannot be pleasant - the authors of that should be put down quickly and painlessly like suffering animals.

Reminds me of some of the feedback I received on the early reports I wrote in Australian schools...

I was told that...

It was a pleasure to have <insert girls name here> in my class this year.

was not acceptable. Smile

I don't see the problem with most of those. Fairly accurate, IMO.

That list is so funny. Yes, with the exception of #10, they all apply to KTs as well. I especially like:

Quote:
6. They only just barely teach their classes and do not invest any time in managing students.

7. They have no burning passion for the students.

8. They do not agonize at all over improving the students skills.

One of the reasons I quit my old hogwan was because management invested no time in properly managing students, had no passion for anything but the parents' money, and wasn't at all concerned about actually improving the students' skills.

here's the list of teachers they have:

http://www.cyjenglish.com/tlist.jsp

this school is no joke, almost all of their teachers have masters degrees from western universities. all this is also a business niche these guys are trying to get into as well, shouldn't forget that

What's the matter? Someone peed on your Cornflakes this morning? Laughing

With the exception of a few, the above statements are mostly true of hagwon teachers. You're deluding yourself if you think otherwise, or you're too stupid and arrogant to admit it. I've been living here long enough to call a spade a spade. If you don't like it, too bad.
