I've made a couple of long blog posts on using the Olympics in the classroom as a teachable moment. Lots of material there in our Resources Share area for teaching English through the Olympics. BAAM and Jeopardy games. Presentations, Bingo (complete picture sets) etc......

I totally remember that McDonalds promo. "When America Wins, You Win." One of the gals at our school was working there and she swooped about 150 of those scratch off cards and gave them to us.

Here's another moment, I think it was '88. Greg Louganis fulled cracked his dome on the platform dive.
Koreans will love this one....1992 Barcelona Marathon

Bronze: (if memory serves me) Stefan Freigang, Deutschland. That's where Ito Hirobumi was sent after the Meji Restoration to learn about European affairs. He later set out to annex Chosun into the Japanese Empire and 안중근 did away with him at the Harbin train station.
So there is the big tie-in.
On a tangent, I always find similarities between the Imperial Japanese Government and the Second Reich though there aren't many resourses pertaining to the similarities. So I'm kinda talking outta my ass.
